Jogjakarta or simply Jogja, is one of the foremost cultural centers of Java. Located at the foot of the still active Merapi volcano, Jogjakarta was in the 16th and 17th centuries the seat of the mighty Javanese empire of Mataram, from which present day Jogjakarta has inher-ited the best of traditions. Home to the Sultan of Jogja this city itself has a special charm and quiet refinement which seldom fails to captivate the visitor. Renowned as a center of classical Javanese fine art and culture such as batik, Indonesia style ballet, drama, music, poetry and shadow puppet shows. It is also known for its vivid con-temporary art scene, and its gamelan music, which de-veloped in the royal courts of the Sultans. Borobudur Monument, one of the greatest Buddhist monuments in the world. This huge temple complex dates back to the 9th century and together with Pram-banan Temple is the largest draw card for visitors to Jog-jakarta. From pure beaches to thousands of years old ancient temples with a unique combination of history, traditions, culture and natural forces making Jogjakarta a very worthwhile place to visit.

 

 Day 1: Arrival Jogjakarta (No meals)

Arrive at Adisucipto International Airport in Jogja-karta where you will be met by our Asia World In- donesia representative and transferred to your hotel. Overnight in Borobudur, Magelang at accommodation as per option

Day 2: Borobudur Sunrise – Candirejo – Merapi Volcano (B/L)

Early morning wake up and drive directly to Boro-budur Monument to experience a delightful Sunrise at Borobudur . Here you will have the opportunity to explore this historical site in the serenity of the early morning before the hordes of tourists arrive. As we climb the steps you will marvel at the spirituality and mesmerizing view of the sun rising slowly and upon reaching the top of the temple itself you will be in awe ! Few are afforded this rare privilege of such a hypnotizing view of the sun rising over the Buddhist stupa’s. Borobudur needs to be understood before it is felt and once you feel it, it will stay with you for- ever ! Our informative guide will most certainly ex-plain its history to you. We now drag ourselves away and head back to the hotel for breakfast, after which we explore Candirejo Village, a traditional Javanese village, rich in its natural surroundings and presently being promoted for village tourism, portraying traditional Javanese culture and daily life through traditional houses, plantation resources, art performances, farming and local food. Here you will have the op-portunity to participate in the daily social activities of this traditional village atmosphere, culture and lifestyle. In the afternoon proceed to Kaliadem, a strategic spot to view the famous Merapi Volcano from a close distance. Day 3: Magelang - Jogjakarta City Tour - Prambanan - Magelang (B/L)

After breakfast spend your morning touring in Jog-jakarta itself, the former Indonesia's capital city, begin the tour by visiting interesting places steeped in culture and history such as the Sultans Palace (Kraton) home to the current Sultan of Jogja and dating back to the 17th century and with it’s charming Taman Sari or Water Castle. We encourage you to appreciate the beauty in the work of Jogja’s famous traditional handicrafts at Kotagede the centre of silver smiths, and the traditional batik home industry in Tirtodipuran. Jalan Malioboro, with rows of sidewalk vendors, the nearby old market Beringharjo and shopping malls, is the primary shopping street for tourists in the city. In the afternoon we visit Java’s most interesting historical Hindu shrine Prambanan Temple. This is one of the most magnificent Hindu temples in the world, known as the Roro Jonggrang Temple or the temple of the ‘Slender Virgin’ with a famous bas-relief depicting the Ramayana story. Day 4: Departure Transfer from Magelang - Yogyakarta (B)

Breakfast will be provided at the hotel. You still have time to relax until the departure time. At the appropriate time, our guide will pick you up and escort you to the Adisutjipto International Air- port in Yogyakarta.
