Weather: Temperatures range from a nightime low of around 10°C in winter (Dec-Mar), to a daytime high of 49°C at the height of summer (Jun-Aug). The best time to visit is from October to April, with perfect temperatures for long, comfortable days at the beach and balmy evenings outside.
Visas: Citizens from the UK, USA, Australia, New Zealand and most Western European and Far Eastern countries are entitled to a free, 30-day extendable visit visa on arrival. Others must obtain a visa through a local sponsor or hotel.
Duty Free: There is a useful Duty Free shop by the baggage reclaim belts in the airport. The incoming allowance is 400 cigarettes or 250 grams cigars, 200ml perfume and four litres of wine or spirits. Drugs and alcohol: Drugs are forbidden and associated penalties are very severe, and while alcohol is served at licensed restaurants, bars and clubs, it cannot be bought around town. Drink driving is another absolute no-no, with very heavy penalties for offenders.
Clothing: Loose-fitting cottons suit the year-round sunny climate best, with hats for the heat of the day. Winter evenings can be surprisingly cool, and it is best to come equipped for ferocious air conditioning. Although Dubai is generally permissive, you should dress modestly when around town, and long skirts or trousers and short sleeves are a must when venturing further afield, especially during Ramadan.
Public behaviour: Personal behaviour in public should be restrained – drunkenness and overt displays of affection are offensive to the Muslim culture and illegal.
Safety: The fact is, Dubai is one of the safest cities in the world, with very low crime rates meaning travelling around the city is very safe. That said, Dubai is a big world city and common sense precautions should be observed. Women should have little trouble exploring the city alone. However, a modest sense of dress will ensure less unwanted attention in the more traditional parts of the city.
Day 01: Mauritius
Welcome to Mauritius - a Tropical Paradise. Our local representative will be waiting for you upon your arrival at Mauritius Airport at the arrival hall. You will be welcomed & transferred to your hotel. The day is free to relax or take a walk on the beautiful beaches of Mauritius. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 02: City Tour of Port Louis, Pamplemousses Gardens
After a buffet breakfast, its time to leave for a half-day tour of Port Louis, the capital city of Mauritius. We visit the harbour, sheltered in a semi-circle of mountains, the Natural History Museum - famous for some very rare birds now extinct like the Dodo, the National bird of Mauritius. See La Citadelle, a stone fortress situated at the top of a hill. Next, we take you to Port Louis market where you can shop at the local stalls and duty free shops. Later we visit the Pamplemousses Gardens known throughout the world for its large collection of exotic plants. See giant water lilies and other rare species of aquatic plants and flowers. Day 03: Visit Chamarel & Grand Bassin
This morning after buffet breakfast, we take you on a full day tour of Chamarel and Grand Bassin. We first visit the unique 'Seven Coloured Earth' at Chamarel. Enjoy the cascading streams and silent forests. See mounds of yellow, red, blue and green coloured earth. Enjoy magnificent views of the Black River Gorges. Also visit Grand Bassin, one of the island's two natural lakes. Overnight at the hotel. (B,D)
Day 04: Ile-aux- Cerfs
After buffet breakfast, we proceed to Ile-aux- Cerfs, a beautiful resort on a Robinson Crusoe-like island. Get mesmerized by the picturesque beauty of miles of fine white beaches and crystal clear waters. Relax on the beach, go swimming and enjoy the many water sports activities which are available there at a nominal cost. We also suggest you take a tour of the famous Undersea Walk, an opportunity to walk on the ocean bed. Overnight at the hotel. (B,D)
Day 05: Mauritius - Dubai
After a buffet breakfast, the day is free. Later in the afternoon checkout from hotel and handover your luggage to bell desk. Late evening you will be transferred from hotel to Airport for your flight to Dubai.
Day 06: Dubai Arrival
Early morning arrival at Dubai, you will be welcomed & assisted at the Dubai international Airport by our representative. Later you will be transferred to hotel. Check in at the hotel. Rest of your day is at leisure to relax and enjoy hotel facilities. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 07: Half-day City Tour & Dhow cruise
This morning, following breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel and depart on a half-day seat-in- coach city tour with English speaking guide. Sample the historic sites and vibrant cosmopolitan life of Dubai on this comprehensive tour. The tour starts with a photo-shop at the famous landmark of Dubai, Burj Al Arab. Proceed to Jumeirah, the picturesque palace and residential area of Dubai, also home to the famous Jumeirah Mosque. Passing by the Sheikh Saeed House (former residence of the ruling family), the tour then continues to Al Bastakiya, the old part of Dubai, to reach the museum located in Al Fahidi Fort. Before savoring the sights and sounds of the fruit and vegetable market, there is time to shop in the most famous landmark of Dubai - the gold souk. Later in the day, for a fabulous relaxing evening, you will be transferred to board traditional Arabian dhow for an evening's cruise on the Creek. An imaginative way of viewing Dubai is to take a tour of creek by traditional wooden dhow or cabin cruiser. Majority of the landmarks can be viewed from the waterway. It offers an intriguingly different view of the beautiful city-Dubai, which is a delightful mix and match of traditional and modern way of life. The splendid example of modern architecture like the Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club and the spectacular Chamber of Commerce. What more could one ask for than a romantic dinner aboard in a dhow as it slips silently along the Dubai Creek by moonlight. Enjoy a sumptuous feast of Lebanese cuisine and Arabic coffee - a delicious taste of true Arabian hospitality. Overnight at the hotel. (B)
Day 08: Desert Safari with BBQ Dinner & Belly Dance
Morning is at leisure to relax, enjoy hotel facilities or to pursue independent activities. Later in the day, you will be picked up from your hotel to enjoy a safari in the desert with a BBQ dinner & Belly Dance program in evening at end of the tour. This tour departs in the afternoon across the desert with several photo-stops during an exciting dune drive to visit camel farm. The drive continues across the desert. Watch the beautiful sunset in the desert. Reach our campsite where you have the opportunity to do camel riding, sand boarding and try out a henna design on hands or feet. After working up an appetite enjoy a delicious barbecue dinner and a shisha (the famous Arabic water pipe). Before returning watch our belly dancer performing her shows around the campfire by starlight. Overnight at the hotel. (B,D)
Day 09: Departure
This morning, following breakfast and check-out, you will be transferred to the airport for your departure homebound flight.
