DAY 01 :

Today, we will enjoy Alaska’s favorite sport - dog sledding! will pick you up at your Anchorage hotel and take you north to mushing country. This adventure is 2-1/2 hours of riding the runners, running the trails, meeting the four-legged athletes, and touring the kennels, with plenty of time for pictures with the dogs. Be sure to dress warm. Supplemental mushing attire will be provided for you if needed, and lunch is included. Your Salmon Berry Tours guide will provide you with transportation into Talkeetna & the rest of the evening is yours to enjoy until our Northern Lights Tour begins!  Tonight, we’ll go in search of the elusive Aurora Borealis! Dinner will get all of us warmed up with homemade soup, pastries and hot chocolate. From the Roadhouse, we will walk/snowshoe to the river where we will have the best view of the Northern Lights. A visit with the Star Lady is included and she will tell us all about our Alaskan sky and the Aurora Borealis phenomenon!  Rooms are shared bath accommodations.  If you wish for a private bathroom, request a private upgrade. (chargeable extra)

Day 2:

Wake up to an Alaskan-sized breakfast at the famous Talkeetna Roadhouse. Featured on both the Travel Channel and the Food Network for their casual family style dining and delicious hand-made food, the Talkeetna Roadhouse has been serving travelers and locals alike since the gold rush days! Following breakfast we will travel back to Anchorage along the scenic Parks Highway.  Consider taking the aurora train north today from Talkeetna... call us for your customized aurora vacation package! For Clients Traveling Independently - ask us for our single supplement rate!

A note about the Aurora: The Aurora is a beautiful thing! She has many variables... ones we can control, ones we cannot control. The variables of aurora viewing we cannot control include the weather, & the solar activity/aurora activity.  What we can do to try to control these "uncontrollables" is to provide guests a chance to see the aurora multiple nights. The Fairbanks Visitors Center published a finding that if you spend 3 or more nights in the Fairbanks area, it will increase your chance of seeing the aurora over 80%!!! So to control this uncontrollable, we provide guests a one night northern lights overnight program with the option to continue aurora viewing in Fairbanks.
